Arlene E. (Koch) Smoll, 85, widower of Floyd H. Smoll, of Red Hill, passed away Friday morning, April 12, 2013 in Pennsburg Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Upper Milford Township, she was a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Emma E. (Fichter) Koch.
She was a Teacher at the Green Lane Elementary School for many years before retiring. She taught two years at the Emmaus Elementary School. Along with her husband, she also co-owned and operated Red Hill Greenhouse for nearly 30 years.
She was a graduate of Emmaus High School and earned a B.S. in Elementary Education and Art Education from Kutztown University.
She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Red Hill where she was also a member of the Lunch Bunch and was a 56 year member of Perkiomen Chapter #318 Order of the Eastern Star.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Daniel F. Smoll of Red Hill; sister-in-law, Grace Bauman of Souderton and several nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Francis, Paul, George, Martin and Harold and sisters, Lillian and Elizabeth.
A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1244 St. Paul’s Church Road, Red Hill followed by burial in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday. An Eastern Star Funeral Service will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to the memorial service.
