Anthony “Tony” J. Bogdon, 85, husband of Anna A. (Duklis) Bogdon, of Montgomery Ave., Pennsburg, PA died on Thursday, February 11, 2010 in The Lehigh Center, Macungie. He and his wife celebrated 63 years of marriage on October 26, 2009
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA he was a son of the late Benjamin and Anna (Szyski) Bogdon.
He was employed by Superior Tube as a production worker for 14 years retiring in 1987. Previously he worked at the Pennsburg Clothing Factory and Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.
He was a longtime member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Pennsburg, PA and the East Greenville and Pennsburg Fire Companies.
He served as a Boatswaim’s Mate 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving along with his wife are two daughters, Jean, wife of Bruce Gerhart of Barto, PA and Christine, wife of John Gibble of Zionsville, PA; two sisters, Helen Fogel of Pennsburg, PA and Stella Rozanski of Red Hill, PA; two grandchildren, Michael Gibble and his wife, Amanda of Maryland and Beth Gibble and John Zech of Exton, PA and a great grandson, Wyatt Gibble. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by four brothers, Benjamin, Stanley, Joseph, and John Bogdon and four sisters, Mary Hudak, Ann Thodoropoulos, Julia Englehart and Lillian Shellaway.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday February 16, 2010 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with the Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville. Interment with military honors will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in his memory to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Building Fund to the address listed above.
