Ann-Jean (Dalena) Stone, 83, of Harleysville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born to the late Daniel and Alma (Dini) Dalena on September 24, 1933. She was married for 62 years to Harry R. Stone, Sr., where they were residents of Eichele Road, Perkiomenville, PA since 1968 and had lived together at The Birches in Harleysville, PA since September.

Born in Flushing, Queens, NY, Ann-Jean was a graduate of The Jamaica Vocational School for Girls in New York where she studied dress design.

She was well known for her delicious and beautiful cakes for weddings and all occasions, and her top-notch hostessing skills. Over the years and in her uniquely warm and welcoming way, she entertained family and friends, as well as celebrities, including TV host Dr. Shock, radio personality, Bill Bircher and Hall of Fame NASCAR Driver Fred Lorenzen. Ann-Jean was also the President of New Hanover Upper Frederick Elementary School PTA during the early 70’s.

With her daughter Dee-Ann she bred and showed Paint Horses and received numerous futurity awards. She wrote and illustrated children books including “Welcome Spring”, which will be lovingly shared with her descendants as a reminder of her love and compassion. Ann-Jean had a zest for life, a terrific sense of humor, and was a thrill to all. Having left an impression on the hearts of everyone who knew her, she will be greatly missed but remembered fondly.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Mark Stone and wife, Janice of Barto, Harry “Bud” Stone Jr. and wife, Lisa of Harleysville, Blake Stone and wife, Linda of Boyertown, Dawn, wife of Edward Burgess of Virginville and Dee-Ann, wife of Tom Renninger of Green Lane; grandchildren, Bart and Billy Burgess, Corinne Stone-Casatelli, Samantha Stone-Welch, Ryan Stone, Tommy and Randy Renninger; five great-grandchildren and her brother Francis “Chuck” Dalena of Levittown.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a granddaughter, Heather Stone.

The Stone family extends their sincere thanks to the staff of Grand View Hospital and Palliative Care, Life Quest, The Birches and Seasons Hospice for their loving care.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, Inc, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041. A viewing will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. A celebration of life will be held in June at Barnegat Light, NJ, where she loved vacationing with her family.
