Angelo Pirollo

January 9, 1924 — January 21, 2014

Angelo Anthony Pirollo, 90, widower of Elizabeth F. (Schaeffer) Pirollo, of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2014 at home.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Dominic and Winifred (Drane) Pirollo.

He was a Captain of the Philadelphia Police Department for 39 years retiring in 1989. After retiring he worked at Weis Markets, Pennsburg for about 15 years. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.

He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and then in the US Army Reserves with a rank of Command Sergeant Major and was a member of the Washington Gray Reserves 103rd Engineer Battalion and the American Legion.

Surviving are his children, Barry D. Pirollo, Coopersburg and Gina E., wife of James Ruttman, Frederick; sister, Mary Wertz, Philadelphia; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Bolden; Sarah Stauffer; Kristen Casey; Michael Burgert; and Joleesa Marmer; and 6 great-grandchildren, Madison; Owen; Aubrey; Benjamin; Trevor and Cole. He was predeceased by a sister Regina Lazzaro.

A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home Inc, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev. Robert Brown officiating. There will be a visitation from 11 am until 12 Noon, Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
