Alyce M. (Alderfer) Wert, 87, widow of Ralph A. Wert, of Telford Lutheran Home, formerly of Red Hill and Lansdale, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville.
Born in Lansdale, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Fannie Jane (Horning) Alderfer.
She was a 1946 graduate of East Greenville High School then attended Allentown Beauty School. She was the owner of Alyce Mae’s Beauty Salon in East Greenville for several years. She also served as a Majority Inspector at the polls in Lansdale, was a volunteer at the Full Circle Thrift Shop in New Britain and a member of the Lansdale Historic Society, and the Towamencin Historical Society where she was Editor/Author of its Publication. She also enjoyed golfing with the Wifty Widows, playing the accordion and was an accomplished artist in many different mediums.
Alyce was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale.
Surviving are six children, Barry Wert and wife, Karen of Hatfield; Pamela, wife of Tony Lopez of Tucson, AZ, Jeffrey Wert and wife, Kim of Hatfield; Steven Wert and wife, Connie of Montgomeryville, Jennifer, wife of John Benz III of Barto, Laura, wife of Mark Zepp of Pennsburg; sister-in-law, Vivian Wert of Chicago, IL; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by two sisters, Betty Sterner and Ruthann Weber.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.
