Alfred E. “Smitty” Sebastian, 83, of North Wales, PA, formerly of Brooklawn, NJ and Mt. Carmel, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Doylestown Hospital. He was the husband of Frances M. (Hochachka) Sebastian celebrating 58 years of marriage on June 21, 2011.
Born in Locust Gap, he was a son of the late Peter and Mary (Dormer) Sebastian.
He retired from working as a Pipe Fitter at the Philadelphia Navy Yard for many years.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a Former Commander of the American Legion Post 72, Brooklawn, NJ.
Surviving along with his wife are two daughters, Francine Tessing of Woodbury, NJ and Mary Lou Sebastian, with whom he resided; a brother, Donald Sebastian and his wife, Joanne of Gloucester, NJ; loving pop-pop of Jason Tessing and his beloved granddog, Roxie. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Bernard and Robert and two sisters, Catherine Zavarik and Elizabeth Klingerman.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Mary Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church, 1325 Upper State Road, North Wales, PA. A private burial will be held in Washington’s Crossing National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at the church from 10-11 a.m. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.
