Obituary for Gail Sharon Ziegler (Diehl)

Gail S. (Diehl) Ziegler, 57, of Barto, died on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Grand View Hospital. She is the wife of Rev. Henry A. Ziegler. They would have celebrated 34 years of marriage on June 4.

Born in Sellersville, PA, she was a daughter of Edna A. (Hoch), wife of Leroy B. Young of Frederick, and the late Paul C. Diehl.

Gail was a Registered Nurse who worked at several hospitals and nursing homes in Eastern PA and recently worked for Bayada Nurses in Exeter. She was a hospice nurse for many years with Pinnacle Hospice, Reading, then Grand View Hospice, Sellersville.

She was a graduate of Boyertown High School, St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Reading, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern University.

She was an active member of Perkiomenville Mennonite Church where she helped lead the Women’s Bible Study and served in the Nursery. She enjoyed caring for her grandson several days a week and was an avid reader and creative writer; she loved baking and hosting holiday family meals and taking trips to Vermont.

Surviving along with her husband, mother and step-father is a daughter, Christina, wife of Jonathan Alderfer, and grandson, Garrett Alderfer, all of Telford and two nephews, Charles Scheetz of Bechtelsville and Jason Scheetz of Macungie. She was predeceased by her sister, Violet Scheetz.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Perkiomenville Mennonite Church, 1836 Gravel Pike (Rt. 29) Perkiomenville with Rev. Dennis Detweiler and Rev. James Ralph officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Sassamansville, PA. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at church.
