Obituary for Robert W. Derr
Robert W. Derr, 92, of Boyertown, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Penn State Health St. Joseph’s Hospital in Reading. He was the husband of Marie N. (Albitz) Derr sharing 70 years of marriage last August.
Born in Hosensack, he was a son of the late Wilmer and Stella (Schuler) Derr.
Robert worked for Tung-Sol Electric in Boyertown for 13 years and then for the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. in Pottstown for 16 years before retiring in 1980. After retiring, he and his son owned East Penn Equipment & Supplies in Pennsburg for many years.
He was a member of Liberty Fire Co. in New Berlinville, the Montco-Berks Golden Agers and Huff’s Church Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving along with his wife, are his five children, Norma J. Linsinbigler of Pottstown, Marian R. Derr of Newtown Square, Evelyn E., wife of Stephen Roadcap of Boyertown, Irene L., wife of Harold Kreider of Northwood, NH and Richard R. Derr and wife, Salie of Boyertown; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Schmeltzle of Allentown and Helen Fegley of Pennsburg.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his daughter, Susanna M. Derr; brothers, Willard, Samuel, Luther, Layton and Roland Derr; and sisters, Mary Ruth, Lena Beegle, Verna Frey and Frieda Bergey.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041. Burial will follow in Palm Schwenkfelder Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
