Obituary for Richard E. Jones

Richard E.  Jones
Richard E. Jones, 67, of Green Lane, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville. He was the beloved husband of Dr. Darlene S. (Parker) Jones, sharing 47 years of marriage together.

Born in Broome County, NY, he was a son of the late Evan and Louise (Kline) Jones.

Richard was a 1966 graduate of North Penn High School and a1971 graduate of Edinboro State College where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He was a travel agent for World Co. for 12 years and retired as an independent courier contractor after 18 years.

He was a member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church in Palm where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday school and a bible study. He was also a pioneer in developing alternatives for worship for individuals who didn’t have the schedule to make it to church on Sunday’s.

Richard was also a past president of the Pennsylvania State Chess Federation.

Surviving along with his wife are his two daughters, Sarah Jayne., wife of Christopher Gipson of Los Angeles, CA and Bekky K., wife of Jason Morasco of Spinnerstown; two grandsons, LJ and Parker Morasco; and his brother Robert C. Jones and wife, Debra of Kennesaw, GA.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Palm Schwenkfelder Church, 833 Gravel Pike, Palm, PA 18070 with Rev. Nicholas Pence officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Schwenkfelder Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11:15 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
