Obituary for Jean Hagenbuch

Jean Hagenbuch
Jean L. Hagenbuch, 80, of Allentown, formerly of East Greenville, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her home.

Born in East Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Worman S. and Ada J. (Rothenberger) Hagenbuch.

She was a 1955 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School and attended Allentown Business School. She worked as a secretary for orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Kenneth Weston’s office for most of her career and retired from Lehigh Valley Hospital after many years as a transcriptionist.

She was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Pennsburg, where she taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the choir as a youth. She was also a member of the Medical Transcription Association.

Jean loved taking care of her home, especially her plants. She also enjoyed family road trips to Florida, reading, knitting, crafting, water skiing, ice skating, having the occasional lunch at the Ritz in Allentown, playing the piano and accordion and learning new technical skills on her computer and iPhone.

Surviving are her three sisters, Barbara A. Hentz of Pennsburg, Nancy L. Ehret of Lansdale and Elaine E., wife of Allen Strimpel of Pennsburg; 14 nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a sister, Arlene A. Heil.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 81 N. Main Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker, Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 81 N. Main St., Pennsburg, PA 18073.
