Obituary for Douglas Snyder

Douglas Snyder
Douglas (Doug) passed away on February 2, 2018 with his loving family by his side.

Born April 5, 1933, Doug lived a full life and was truly endeared by all whose path he crossed. He was a fun loving and kind-hearted soul that magnetized those who knew him.

Doug worked in the Carpenters Union Local 1595 for over 30 years, building lasting relationships within his brotherhood. He was a key part of building the Pottstown Hospital, the North Penn High School and Limerick Power Plant where he retired in September 1993.

Doug was a life member of New Berlinville and Bally fire companies. He was an avid hunter and member of the “Little Six” hunting camp in Tioga County and also hunted out of the “Double H” hunting camp in Sullivan County. Doug also enjoyed fishing, especially at his house near Rehoboth Beach Delaware. For 12 years, Doug also enjoyed spending the winters in Winter Haven, Florida. He was an avid sports fan spending the summers following the Boyertown Legion Bears baseball team, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events.

Doug’s vibrancy was fueled by the love he had for his close-knit family. Spending time with his family is what he truly cherished.

Doug is survived by his loving wife and life partner Virginia (Ginny) Snyder with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.

Doug is also survived by his four daughters Audrey and husband Larry Eddinger, Judy and husband Randy Hunter, Kathy and husband Michael Miller, Linda and husband Grant Gabel, along with 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Doug is predeceased by his parents Harry and Laura (Simmons) Snyder, 5 sisters (Edith, Marie, Ethel, Dorothy, Mildred) and 3 brothers (Harry, John, Robert). He is also predeceased by his grandson, Travis Hunter.

To honor Doug’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, February 8th. The family will greet from 1:00 – 2:00 pm and the memorial service will begin at 2:00pm. Pastor Allen Giles will officiate the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Moment of Peace Adventures (MOPA). Donations can be made on line at or mail checks to
Moment of Peace Adventures, P.O. Box 775, Oley, PA 19547

Doug’s Celebration of Life arrangements are being handled by Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home located at 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041.
