Obituary for Claude J. Balduzzi

Claude J.  Balduzzi
Claude J. Balduzzi, 84, husband of Patricia M. (Schiery) Balduzzi, of Green Lane, passed away on August 24, 2017 in Phoenixville Hospital. He and his wife celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 15, 2016.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Angelo Z. and Alfonsina “Frances” (D’Urso) Balduzzi.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. During his time in the Army, he played in the US Army Battalion Baseball league.

Claude was the owner of Green Lane Hoagie Shop from 1949 until 1991.

He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church where he volunteered as the Bingo Caller for many years.

He was a 1950 graduate of East Greenville High School and served as the President of Green Lane Borough Council for 14 years. He was an accomplished baseball player as a pitcher, and loved all sports and also activities involving his grandchildren and their events. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving along with his wife, are three children, Michael C. Balduzzi and his wife, Anne of Kent Island, MD, Theresa L. Schindler and her husband, Bill of Collegeville, and Angela R. Balduzzi, and her husband, Larry Schwartz of Phoenixville; a sister, Mary Ellen Giovannitti and her husband, Carlo of Paulsboro, NJ and five grandchildren, Tyler and Corbin Schindler, Lee and Sarah Balduzzi and Brendon Schwartz.

Family and friends are invited to the viewing on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville PA 18041 followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with the Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Burial follows in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. Family and friends can also be received at a 1:00 p.m. luncheon at the St. Philip Neri social hall at the address listed above.
