Willard A. "Willie"  Marcks
Our Beloved Husband, Father, Grand Father and Great Grandfather, Willard “Willie” A. Marcks, 83, of Palm, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Fern E. (Hoffman) Marcks celebrating 63 years of marriage this past March.

Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Stanley H. and Anna I. (Moyer) Marcks.

Willard served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged, he was employed by Pillsbury Co. in East Greenville where he served as a Quality Control Lab Technician for 35 years until his retirement in 1994.

He was a lifelong member of Emmaus Moravian Church where he played in the Brass Choir for 65 years.
Willie was involved with the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps for 13 years where he served as the director in 1973 and 1974 and was part of the Corps when they won the World Championship in 1965 and 1968. Most recently he worked with the scholarship team for the Reading Buccaneers as he wanted to provide members who were in need the opportunity to be Buccaneers. He was inducted into the Reading Buccaneers Hall of Fame and was also a member of the World Drum Corps and the Pa. Drum Corps Hall of Fame.

He was also a member of the Reading Buccaneer Alumni Corps since 1988 and a member of Celebration Brass for 10 years.

Willie was a 32nd Degree Mason of the Perkiomen Lodge #595 where he was past Master in 1985 and he was also a member of the Grundsow Lodge #7 in East Greenville.

He was a mentor to many young men in the Drum and Bugle Corps and the Masonic Lodge and will be missed by many.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Barbara A. Marcks of Pompano Beach, FL and Diane L. Marcks of Warrington, PA; four grandchildren, Travis W. Krause, Frank M. Sanske, Kristen N. Kobithen and Jennifer E. LeVau; 10 great-grandchildren and his sister, Joann O. Renninger of Ohio.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 with the Rev. J. Christian Giesler officiating. Burial follows the service in Emmaus Moravian Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. with a Masonic Service at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
