Obituary for Donald W. Howett

Donald W.  Howett
Donald W. Howett, 86, widower of Nancy Howett, and a resident at Frederick Living, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 surrounded by his three daughters, Lynn (Howett) Krum, Sharon Howett, and Ann Howett. Born in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of the late W. Clyde and Geraldine (Kennedy) Howett.

A three-sport athlete at Ephrata High School, he attended Juniata College before enlisting in the U. S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He played baseball for the Navy in Japan, and softball for years in the Lancaster County area. In later years he coached various community sports teams including assisting the Garden Spot High School basketball team. He resided with his wife, Nancy, in New Holland, PA where they lived until 2005 before retiring to Murrells Inlet South Carolina

In addition to his daughters, he is survived by his son-in-law, Bud Krum of Red Hill, PA, four grandchildren: Jarrod Krum and wife Colleen of Bally, PA, Kacie Hsia and husband, Eric, of Pottstown PA, Kevin Krum and wife Samantha of Huffs Church, PA, and Kyle Krum of Red Hill. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren: Caitlin and Jason Krum, Aurora Chiavoroli, Peyton and Caleb Hsia, and a niece, Jo Snavely of Ephrata.

In addition to his wife and parents, Donald was predeceased by a sister, Jane Fasnacht.

A memorial service will be held at New Holland Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 E. Main Street, on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:00 am.
