Obituary for Jack T. Rutz

Jack T. Rutz, 85, widower of Shirley Mae (Leh) Rutz, of Toms Brook, Virginia, formerly of Adams Street, Red Hill, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.

Born in Strasburg, Virginia, he was a son of the late Bertha (Drummonds) and Harry Houston Rutz, Sr.

He worked many years at Lehigh Valley Dairy in the Milk Production Department before retiring.

Jack was a member of the Strasburg Presbyterian Church and was an avid gardener and fisherman. He loved his family and was very close to his nieces and nephews.

Surviving are a step-son, Dana Eckhardt of FL; grandchildren, Anita Eckhardt, Greg Eckhardt of CA and Erin Eckhardt and her mother, Betsy Kresge of Macungie; several great and great-great grandchildren, siblings, Loretta Campbell and Fred Rutz, both of Strasburg VA, Eva Ranney of Grand Rapids MI, and Jill Riffey of PA; and several nieces and nephews and their extended family. Along with his wife, he is predeceased by a step-son, David Eckhardt, a grandson, Richard Eckhardt and 6 siblings, Jim Rutz, Lena Rutz, John Rutz, Harry “Bootie” Rutz, Jr., Robert Rutz and Claude “Cub” Rutz.

The family will receive friends at the Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg, VA on Friday evening, March 18, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m.

A graveside funeral service for will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at New Goshenhoppen Cemetery, 1070 Church Rd, East Greenville, PA 18041.
