Obituary for George C. Vinter, Sr.

George C.  Vinter, Sr.
George Charles Vinter, Sr., 77, beloved husband of the late Joyce M. (Pennypacker) Vinter; of Red Hill, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 in Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia.

Born in 1937 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Frederick and Cecelia (Grosser) Vinter.

George graduated from Mastbaum Vo-Tech School in 1955, and then worked for Gray Instrument Co., Biddle Instruments and AVO International retiring in 1999 after 45 years of service.

He was a 50 yr. member of the William L. Elkins Lodge No. 271 F&AM, Doylestown, Royal Arch Chapter No. 270, Cryptic Council No. 51, Royal and Select Master Masons and Mizpah Commandery No. 96. He was also a member of the 32 Degree Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Philadelphia.

George was a Revolutionary War Re-Enactor with the First New Jersey Regiment and demonstrated 18th and 19th Century toys and games.

Surviving are his four children, George C. Vinter, Jr. and wife, Denise of Bedminster; James F. Vinter, Sr. and wife, Joanne of North Wales, Jean A., wife of Michael K. Burns of Quakertown and Dawn M., wife of Jason Long of Pennsburg; seven grandchildren, Brianna, Colleen, Caitlyn, James, Jr., Gina, Alex, IV and Georgia; and great grandchildren Lucas, Liam and Payton; and also survived by good friend, Dorothy Orman of Red Hill. Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Edith Cliggett and a brother, Fred Vinter.

A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. with a Masonic Funeral Service at 10:50 a.m. followed immediately by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St. East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev. Elaine Ely officiating. Burial will be held at Lawnview Cemetery, Rockledge, PA. Please feel free to share memories and offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
